New site build in WordPress for Stephen Gethins, MP for Arbroath & Broughty Ferry
Circumstances change, of course, and a client specification is often not where the delivered website ends up residing – features get dropped along the way and real-life trumps [sic] content updates and requirements.
The site was built using our standard ‘hide the plumbing’ approach, giving staff members a simple and clutter-free login to write Posts, with all the gnarly stuff about updates and security and backups and … you get the idea … being our concern.
GeneratePress & GenerateBlocks 2
GeneratePress has been our framework of choice for a long time and, with GenerateBlocks 2.0 and the focus on clean code and a CSS-styles based approach, this choice is reinforced. The Google PageSpeed Insights score for the site shows maximum scores of 100% across the board on desktop and as-near-as-makes-no-difference on mobile.
It’s not of course as simple as ‘just’ using these tools, it’s also about server setup, image processing and formats and a whole range of techniques and approaches – we’ve a blog post here on why your site may not be performing as well as others.
